Going Away For A Few Days ... At Last

I feel as if I've been waiting forever to get away somewhere (anywhere!) this year. Anyhoos, (early) tomorrow morning I head off to Disney Resort in Paris for a 5 day break. We're staying in the Disney New York Hotel which sounds quite spiffy. So, for the next few days, I get to act like a ten-year-old if I want too. Unfortunately, if I do, it will probably take me a month to recover!

Oh, and if Shiona doesn't get up the Eiffel Tower this time, apparently heads WILL roll!

Hopefully by the time I get to shoot another band SKY will have got the finger out and given us that broadband service they promised us two months ago, so there won't be such a ridiculously delay in getting the resulting pics up on the site.

Computerless In Livi

Yeah, the last couple of weeks, I've been without "Old Faithful" thanks to my son (accidentally) downloading some nasty virus or other and the total failure of a not so old monitor. So apologies to everyone for photos that have not been commented on, or notes not replied to, etc. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Apologies also to anyone who went looking for the Finch pics over at vivalascene.com and didn't find them. Shiona hopes to sort out the naughty gremlin in the website as soon as she has some time away from work.

Folie a Deux (Part ... um ... Deux: May The Farce Be With You)

This is a tad late, but I was away visiting parents and stuff last week and this has been my first real opportunity to catch up with life on the net.

Anyways...

As you may have gathered from the comments in my previous journal Fall Out Boy's fan club completely OCKed-up things for the contestants and winners of their Angels and Kings competition in Spain. I was pretty upset (gross understatement) about the way the members had been treated, so I decided to email them about it to get it out of my system.

To say I am shocked and appalled at your companyâ�™s handling of this contest is the understatement of the year! How stupid do you think anyone will feel who has gone to Barcelona for this evening only to find out the event is not taking place until the 8^th of October?

Your thoughts and comments on this fiasco would be appreciated. I believe an apology and more is due to all those who took part.

Their response didn't really surprise me. It's obvious that as far as they are concerned what happens in Europe stays in Europe and is therefore of little consequence to them.I felt that putting the blame on the hotel was rather low. Don't the people who run the fan club check things with the band or their management before holding the competitions?

Honestly,

We were informed the incorrect date by management of the venue. We literally just found out the correct date (the 9^th, not the 8^th) about 15 minutes ago. All winners are being emailed their apology with details, and an apologetic post is being written now. Considering all winners of the event were from Spain, while itâ�™s still unfortunate to have posted incorrect information, it wonâ�™t be such an unbelievable inconvenience, as the event is still going on next week.

I know that at least one winner didn't receive his email about being one of the three 'lucky ones' until 4.30pm local time! He had to travel to Barcelona from Valencia which is a three and an half hour journey by train. When he arrived at the hotel and found out that the gig wasn't taking place until the following week I can assure you he was anything but happy about the waste of time and a considerable amount of money. The whole thing may not have been "an unbelievable inconvenience" to the people running Overcast Kids, but I can say with certainty it was to those who entered the competition.

Folie a Deux

Folie a Deux ... literally "a madness shared by two" is a rare psychiatric syndrome in which a symptom of psychosis (particularly a paranoid or delusional belief) is transmitted from one individual to another.

For instance one person gets it into their head it would be a great idea to go to Barcelona today in the hope of seeing Fall Out Boy play songs from their upcoming album live for the very first time and manages to convince someone else that this is a wise endeavour. Excellent adventure or bogus journey? You choose.

Off To Sunnier Climes

After enduring what has been mainly a damp and dismal summer here, I'm finally heading off tomorrow morning for the Algarve in Portugal. It goes without saying that I'm looking forward to the new and endless photo opportunities that come with visiting a place for the first time. I'm also hoping that hubby will be able to chill out and enjoy the break. He's a workaholic (and he knows it!).

Hope to catch up with what you've all been doing in the second half of this month.
